Can't blame them I suppose, although as it works I don't mind!

But I think it should be included in ever RS. The MK1 had it. Then again, the MK1 was a different ball game all together!

I might change the Shift light to red!, that'll just solve all the problems!

I don't think it has to do with the maps. The maps are for all Ford dealers the same. They get it from the IDS disc and they are all the same or.....the map they used in the factory when instaling the ECU isn't the same as the map which is on the cd which will update the ECU from the dealers.

Problem is i can't change clusters with someone where the light is working with someone where it isn't. We don't have as many RS as you UK guys.

From the latest messages, we can also say, there isn't a difference between cars with or without the Bluetooth connector.

Now check if there is a difference (or not) with cars which have keyles entry or not.

About the Mountune maps, i am not sure what you meant with it. Does the "shift" llight work at 6500 rpm or do you mean, the light goes on when starting the car and it doesn't go out at all, so it stays on while driving?

not all standard RS's are running the same ford maps there have been many many updates....

I know, but i guess most of them will have the CJ map because this one has the most power.

The reason why i keep searching for differences in the wires is because cars with the keyless entry can't be retrofitted with doulbe lock and alarm. As fas as i know, there aren't new RS cars delivered with this combination also although it was available when ordering one. Dunno if this also was the case in UK.

And, just as Brendan also mentioned, it seems 2009 cars work and 2010 cars won't. In 2010 there was also a change in startersbutton and mirror button.

The reason I say it's to do with mapping is that on an ST, the shift light is enabled when the car is mapped. The same would be for the RS, and hense the problem with mountuned cars.

The problem with the mountune car is that the light illuminates and then never goes off. It stays in all the time.

It clearly shows the 2009 cars are far superior

I don't agree. Why should there be a difference in a CJ map which is installed on a 2009 RS compared to a CJ map on a 2010 car?Only difference i could think is there is different ECU installed in 2010 cars which isn't compatible with the shift signal.

It's probably something to do with the BCM, as there where a lot of changes to the 2010 cars that we didn't see.

Hi guys,

I'm after a bit of advice on how to get the software running. I have downloaded and run the runtime pack. And I have also down loaded the elm327 software zip folder. Now where do I go from here? Sorry if it's a bit of a stupid question, I'd just rather get some info then just installing random software.

Hi mate,

Next thing, if you haven't already, is to unzip the ELM327 folder on to your c:\ drive or similar. The program itself is called ELMConfig.exe.

Then go play! When you're ready to plug into the car, Read data from each module and Save the current configurations to a folder on your laptop. I have mine saved in the same unzipped folder. You can then come away from your car, Load up the configurations as if you were in the car, then change settings, save them (I would do this in a different folder...) then Load them back to the car when you're ready to.

Hope that helps

I don't seem to be able to see the elm config.exe. When I open the elm software folder I see 7 folders. EasyODB2, ODB2spy, scanMaster-elm, scantool_net133 win, USB driver, windows vista USB driver, wobdcracy and a text called software instruction. Am I missing something here?

I'm still trying to get the software running but I'm having problems why I don't know, I must have got something wrong. Im running windows 7, I'v plugged the lead in and installed the driver, lap top now picks the lead up as "silicon labs cp210x usb to uart bridge" I'v then run the runtime pack and then gone to run the ELMconfig.exe to install the software but I'm getting an error "component mscomm32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file missing or invalid" any ideas to where I'm going wrong? I haven't plugged the lead into the car yet at this stage.

Hi Mat,

Running the software isn't always straight forward on Win7 as a few members have found. However I use both a netbook with XP and a laptop with Win7 so it does work.

You might need to uninstall the lead as it is currently recognised and start again, running the runtimepack.exe before connecting the lead. I haven't seen it recognised as you've described before so that's a strange one. All the operating files you need are within the downloads.

It would be worth trying it connected to the car, if only to read your VIN number initially as well, just to check it really isn't working.

Hope that helps.
