Had this now for a couple of weeks only on near a full lock or a full lock , it does it on both left and right full locks and the only way to describe the noise is like a crunching worn cv joint ( like a old mk3 escort ) .
I have checked the obvious ... Jacked up both sides nothing visibly worn , cv boots all as new no splits or tears . Ball joints and track rod ends all secure and no play , the RS has only done 21k and I have had her from new on a 60 plate . This noise is only apparent at slow speeds and usually when reversing off the drive on full lock , turning out of junctions in first gear or coming around roundabouts slow speeds in second gear. I have even inflated the tyres to the fully loaded pressure and still it does it , the RS is totally standard except for powder coated wheels in black which I fitted last summer , all the wheel bolts are secure .
Any ideas what this is ? Got me baffled . Cheers Neil .

Well this noise came back with avengance and was driving me nuts !! Fully checked all the steering and suspension parts, no faults found. Took it to my mates garage and put the front wheels in the shaker plates on the mot ramp and I was shocked to see it was the tires !!
As he had the steering moving lock to lock you could see the tires literally trying to pull off the rim !!
Fitted two new contys and it's as good as new , the two contys that came off had only done 4K miles so the tire company are sending them back to see if I can get a claim against them :)
