I'd say they should replace it, it's not as if it can get damaged, unless a huge stone has done it, which you would have mentioned.

 

No idea, I would assume they have a number of wires / areas at which point it becomes an issue. Not sure whether they take mileage into account, stones can damage elements as much as windscreens as Gareth mentioned.

If you do decide to have it changed then make sure they use a real Ford OEM windscreen and not a cheaper copy.

 

Just noticed this morning that two of the heating elements are not working on my front windscreen. Only used it for the first time this morning and the screen cleared apart from two lines, one directly in front of the drivers seat. What are the chances of getting a replacement on warranty?

How on earth do you get to use heated front screen in August? was it frosty? did you have condensation IN the car on the inside of the screen? surely if you had condensation on the outside you would just use the wipers? Im totally staggered, i hardly get to use the heated screen in deepest winter!

 

I had one replaced on a Fiesta once. My faulty section was about 6 inches across and pretty much in the centre of the windscreen.

Not sure if they use any criteria to determine if it's a validd claim or not

 

Thanks all, no damage from stones, the screen is as new. Will give the dealer a call tomorrow.

 

Only the dealer and ford warranty claims will be able to confirm if covered on not.
Pity you didn't take a picture of it.

 

I'd be interested to know what the Ford party line is on this because even though a single element failure has no real effect on functionality, it just looks wrong.
