Partial leather seats

Hi guys

I've just put a deposit down on a PB FRS with lux pack 1 and what i'm not sure about is the seats. Is it worth the extra for the partial leather seats? for those that have them are they more comfortable than the cloth? and do you think that they justify the extra £500?

In all true honesty I could use that £500 towards paint protection but if the leather seats are worth it I would consider buying them.

Thanks for your help.

to the club .
We've had quite a bit of discussion about the seats and I don't think that either is more or less comfortable than the other , as it's only the cover material that is different , not the basic construction of the seat , so at the end of the day it's down to what you prefer .

Have a look through our seat forums on here . http://www.focusrsoc.com/forums/index.php?showforum=86

I know I've said this before, but if you're the kind of owner that speends lots on paint protection then you'll probably find the cloth seats too prone to getting dirty to be able to resist getting seat covers anyway.

Whereas my current Clio Trophy has very similar seats to the leather Focus ones, and they've put up with plenty of abuse without deteriorating.

In summary:

Cloth - pretty but impractical
Leather - dull but practical

Unless you are going for UG do not go for Paint protection, it is very expensive and while it does stop the majority of chips, it does not stop them all, I have had a couple of bits of damage through the Armoufend on my Elise.

The problem is now I have this on it all needs ripping off and throwing in the bin before I can repair.

Also the money saved on film will cover having the chips blown in after a cople of years.

My general advice is unlless you have a special effect paint e.g. UG that costs a lot and difficult to match therefore large bills, then don't bother

I thought the green seats in the green car looked a bit tacky. The leather looks much much better in my opinion but we're all different fortunately.

I really didn't lke the dash either on the basic model, it looks a bit cheap and plastic with the heater knobs. The climate control looks great and adds a touch of class as does the sat nav but its all extra dosh. Thing is, you want to sit in the car and think 'now this is nice' not 'I wish I'd just had this or that fitted for the few extra quid'. If your spending that kind of cash, a bit more to put the toys on is well worth it.

Hi mate and welcome !

As all the guys says..its more down to personal choice, and how you feel it looks!

I think if i was getting UG i may consider the cloth seats..as the UG is already 'out there' in the 'in yer face ' colour scheme so why not carry it on through to the seats.

I went for leather because i think it looks nicer with the FW and also brings a lil bit of luxury to a not so luxurious interior of the car. Plus i had an ST3 so not having leather would have felt like a step back. For 500 quid i also think its quite a cheap addition compared to other cars if you wanted a leather option.

Hey thanks for all your advice guys, what a helpful bunch you are, you've made me feel really welcome as a new member so big respect to you all.

I'm actually going to look at a FW RS today with the blue trim seats, and its quite local to me so don't need to travel far but so far have not managed to locate a nearby RS with partial leather seats. It would be good to see them for real, but its also good to know that there is no difference in comfort.

I do think that the blue trim with the PB paint should look cool but then again the blue RS stitching on the leather really stands out too! I was lucky enough to test drive a UG RS last week and my view along with the salesman was that the bright green trim of the cloth seats was just a little bit too much eye candy!

I dont know why the stitching is blue on the green RS. It must take all of 30 seconds to change the machine to from blue to green thread.

My dealer has a green RS and that was the first question I asked him when I saw it.
