If the wiring to the sensor, and the sensor wiring are ok then chances are the heater element in the sensor has given up!
Sensor 2 is the second sensor, in the cat pipe.
I have just confirmed I am getting this code (P0036) on my RS, however mine is intermittent, some days the MIL is on others it is not.
Any additional clues as to what this could be before I get the sensor replaced completely?
Sensor (Exhaust Gas - Oxygen) is Finis Code 1580153 Eng. PN: 6M51-9G444-AC RPI inc VAT ÂŁ211.20
thankfully as a Ford Employee I get a discount (MLI: 202 (-30%) ÂŁ147.84 after Discount)
Dave you need to go on diagnostics and have live data. That way you can scroll down to emission data and then it will tell you pre-cat or after cat what sensor is up the wall. The lambda's work on mili volts and they should both read the same voltage's. Last one I done the lambda after the cat was 24mv where as the one pre-cat was 800mv
Having P0036 appearing from time to time P0036-E4 P0036-64. I understand this is the lambda, its wireing or PCM itslef in worst case. I am going to check it ASAP but I can't do it this week. :-( The question though is can you run car normally with this error without further / seriously damaging the engine for a week ?
Will there be any problems driving the car without the second sensor attached?
I've changed my cat and I'm having trouble getting the sensor out, I'm working on it though lol
Except the light on the dash none. Fueling is based on 1st lambda sensor not 2nd.
