Recently had ghost fitted, from what I've read stop start is supposed to work, however if I don't turn it off, the car immobillises and I have to restart the car, can anyone help?

When I fist had the Ghost fitted 2 years ago stop/start did not work at all. There was a software update a year ago which fixed this and it now works. Either you have the wrong software version or an incorrect installation. Can I suggest you try it in service / valet mode and see what happens, if it works properly in that mode then talk to your installer.

I had read that there was a software update, on the packet for the device it does say December
2018, so I am assuming for the time being that means it's new from the manufacturer.

I'll go and check the service mode now.

A little bit disgruntled that it's not 100% to be honest. The installer didn't seem to know exactly what he was doing. I did want to take it to Chris Preston but after speaking to AutoWatch they recommended an authorised dealer close to me. I will certainly be speaking to the company that installed it but want to arm myself with information first.

had no issues with mine, had Ghost fitted October last year and was in a queue of traffic yesterday where it auto stopped for about 2 mins and when I put the clutch in again it started without the need for the code

I had read that it should still auto start, but thanks for confirming. Definitely some sort of issue then, everything else works so it's a minor issue in reality, however just regretting using them now as if they shouldn't be messing with people's cars if they're not 100% clued up. Also haven't had the autolock over 6mph feature enabled.

December 18 will certainly have the updated software on it although it should have been installed and configured by the installer. I do always recommend Chris for installations as he is the best with the Focus RS family as he ownes a Mk3 and used to be a Ford electrical technician, and does travel all over the country. Autowatch are usually pretty good if there are problems so contact them direct and explain the issue so they can talk to your installer direct.

You can have auto lock enabled in the Ford software by a friendly member in your area using forscan or UCDS.

I had my AW Ghost fitted to my 16 plate Focus ST3 petrol last year and stop start worked fine without issue.

I then got the installer back last year to take it off and transfer it to my 66 plate Focus RS, again no issues and stop start works perfectly with it.

The software was updated once on the RS, but even before it was updated everything worked as expected.

I would guess yours has not been installed correctly.

Thanks for the help, glad to confirm what I thought. I have emailed Immobillises Direct, which I believe is Chris's company outlining the issues and asking for help. I'll also email AutoWatch, don't really feel like dealing with the company that installed it to be honest, not until I can prove what I'm saying, otherwise I suspect that they will just try to blah that it responds differently to different vehicles.

Yeah from what I know he is, but he also owns Immobiliser Direct to deal with the demand for Ghost, set it up separately from what I can see due to struggling to balance admin and travelling to jobs

I'd be interested to know how you get on. My issue is that the engine always runs, it doesn't stop (it shows the greyed out A ). I'm actually okay with this as I believe start/stop is just extra ware and tear.

The installer did say he could get it working though.

I have a meeting with the installer and an AutoWatch rep this week, I'll update after this.

From what I've read it's an option of the AutoWatch to disable stop start, maybe this was enabled.

Update...

Met with the AutoWatch representative and the installers today. They had the car for about 3 hours.

They said they have had to change the way the ghost is operating and that it is a software issue with the Ghost II, which has only been on the market since January. The explanation given is that the current software on the Ghost II is not compatible when used via the engine CANbus, so now it's connected to the body CANbus, this means using the mirror controls instead of the cruise control.

Not sure what to think of all this to be honest, however, the stop start now works without error or Immobillisation.

I see what you mean about it being more private, bits that's probably just our collective paranoia! If they are setting up cameras, then it's probably MI6.

It is slightly annoying though as it does actually move the mirror, I would of thought it would be possible to sort of intercept the signal as such and temporarily make the mirror remain static. The way round it this is to make the input code symmetrical.

At least it's sorted now, I have enquired about the Ghost Shadow and someone is going to contact me in a week.

i have had a ghost system fitted for over a year with no problems. it had to have a update soon after but thats all. i used the controls on the steering wheel no problems
There does seem to be very few with problems, what I didn't realise is that they had moved onto the second iteration of the AutoWatch Ghost, which from what I had read isn't hugely different. However they the AutoWatch representative said that it seems to be a software glitch with the Ghost II that means it causes the error I experienced when set up to work with the engine CANbus. Not sure if that means there are two CANbus networks or if it's the same network but the Ghost has to be wired to the body control module instead of the ECU.

Like I said, the difference is minor, however, it moving the mirror during operation is a slight irritation.
