Put this in A-plan thread but thought I would start another thread...

Ok so thought I would leave a review of A plan and there competitors.

So me and the wife have 3 cars. RS lives in the Garage comes out at weekends etc and stef uses a little corsa to get to work as a daily. I use a 2001 focus as a daily. Anyway stefs (wife) policy was up for renewal with Admiral they wanted £874 for both cars RS and corsa. So I had a day off last week and phone around.

Before I list competitors I'll tell you a few handy details to take note. Stef is 24 she turns 25 December 20th. She Has 7 years no claims and no points or convictions, claims etc. Myself I'm 29 I have 9 years no claims bonus, no points, no convictions 2 non fault claims. We live in the lowest crime rate area also.

Competitors where...

Admiral @ £874 but obviously cover mods to be legal but as for theft etc not replaced.

Greenlight :- don't insure the Focus RS because of theft.

Adrian flux :- £944.21 = Corsa @ £244.21 and RS @ £700 (excess was stupid the guy on the phone seemed to have the attitude of can't be bothered and that it was going to be hard work getting me a good deal. Now flux are the only guys who ever talk to me like that so I will never use them again to quote. They have gone down hill for a few years)

Sky insurance £980 with another stupid excess near enough the same as above. And both sky and flux use Marker study (underwriter )

A-plan £500 for the RS and £212 for corsa. This is the underwriter of Marker study same as above... both fully comp and low excess of £350. All mods declared including mudflaps and wind deflectors lol. A-plan are just like greenlight they speak to you in a very friendly understanding manor and go out of there way to meet your needs. Obviously Greenlight is dead in the water because of theft but down to previous experience. Very very happy but stef not driving it until December 20th on her birthday  her bottom lip is out but she has the money hat on just like me.

So my advice would be goto A-plan on your insurance renewal and have a surprise and mention my name Graham Lay on Focus RSOC and they should be able to give you some sort of deal as I said I would leave a review.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thank you for giving us a try for a quotation however I'm sorry if the attitude of our member of staff wasn't up to scratch. I'd very much appreciate it if you could PM me your details so I could take a look in to who's been dealing with it at our end.

Regards,

Dan.

Went with A-Plan. Really helpful and friendly. (In fairness the girl at A. Flux was helpful & friendly too), but A-Plan were over £125 cheaper :)

As above, cheapest isn't always best, and customer service will win every time for me, provided the difference in quotes isn't TOO massive of course! The very reason why i've stayed with my insurer for a number of years now, despite some other insurers being a little cheaper... ;)

Wonder why I was told they do not insure the Focus RS?
I know a couple of years ago they went through a high number of total loss claims, which resulted in them not taking on any more RS's for a period of time, but existing customers they honoured at renewal time. It could be that hte situation is the same again. I guess it depends which underwriter they are using.

some of these companies make me laugh, how can you refuse to insure a car because of its theft risk, its great taking everyones cash when the times are good but then when they have a few claims they just change the goal posts to suit :nope: this reminds me of when it happened to me,

back in the late 90's when cossies were being stolen right left and centre i used to insure with a company called peart, nobody could come anywhere near them for price then when i sold my 2nd escort it took me 5 or 6 weeks to find another,i gave them a call and they said we dont insure them anymore due to all the thefts and i was classed as a new customer,if i had kept my policy going and swapped to another car then that would have been fine,it didnt matter one bit that i had been with them for several yrs before so i ended up paying well over double what i was paying before
