About three weeks ago I got into the car, pressed the start button and it didnt start. All the dash lights lit up as normal, but just didnt start. I got out, locked it, unlocked it, got back in and it started fine, so I didnt really think anything of it. Forward three weeks and yesterday , the same happened, except this time it was having none of it and I ended up with ford assist (AA) who have put it down to a 1.8volt draw on the battery.

The car was sat for two weeks until a week ago. Has been running fine since ive been back off holiday for a week, until yesterday, so I cant see how it can be a flat battery, a week later?.

Ive phoned my local dealer who said its because its been sat for two weeks and not a battery drain (without looking!), but surely a year old car shouldnt suffer this after sitting for two weeks?. My wifes 8 year old SMAX and daughers 10 year old KA are fine, so I wouldnt expect it from mine.

Anyone else experienced similar?.

Sorry, yup meant amp draw. No extras fitted, no tracker etc, which used to drain my scoobs battery. Ford seemed to think the AA jumped the gun with their assessment. It’s been fine all day today so I’ll see how it goes.

What sort of trips has it done for the week it was running - only asking as if they are quite short then chance it's not charging the battery fully? Normally you see this in winter

How much vibration was your tinkering causing lol

Has it not moved for a while and your key in your pocket tonight? Otherwise stumped to be honest
drove her last Monday, it gets used once a week minimum, I was only drifting some throttle shafts out of a pair of webers, so should not have been loud ! I seem to remember when I parked it, I opened the bonnet to have a look at coolant level, locked the doors with the remote with bonnet still open, then when I was in the garage the next day just closed the bonnet to which the hazards flashed once. 4 days later the alarm sounds with no hazards. I thought the hazards flash with alarm? I may have put it out of sync by locking with bonnet open I guess? oh, and no key fob in pocket, that was in tha hoose.

For winter they say that 7 miles is required to put back in what was used to start the car, so if the aircon is being hammered in the temps we've had perhaps it's similar, long run should help
Yes Ian, air con on permanently, and very short trips. I'm going to take it on a long run tomorrow and then it's in for it's HG so I'll get Ford to look at it at the same time.
