Looks like we will have 2 options on seats. ST style or MK2 style. What are people going to go for?

Mine is going to be a daily that will go on some long road trips so looking for support and comfort.
I found my Mk1 Sparcos a perfect balance but struggled with the mk2 ST recaros. Any feedback from MK2 owners on the seats would be greatly appreciated 😉

They have their pros and cons, I prefer the mk2 bucket, but, my other half prefers the ST seats (which she still hates a bit). When it comes to ordering time my other half and I shall have to try both (I still have my mk2 but best to try both in a mk3 body and then we'll decide.

One thing I notice with the ST seats is the headrest does not seem to tilt far enough back, I know for neck safety in an accident it needs to be close to the head but in our 2012 ST if just feels too far forward. Can only recommend go and sit in an ST and try it first.

I'm the other way round, I've never sat in a mk2 type bucket only the ST seats in my car.

Having said that I've sat in the new type R GT buckets does that count?

If anything the mk2 bucket has the head restraint too far from the head and it's non adjustable. I did wonder if this is why it's not offered in the US, but the Lotus Evora was sold with the same seat in the US so type approval must be possible there for it.

In my opinion I have no idea why someone would choose the ST style Recaro's over the Sportster CS seats from the Mk2 RS. The RS seats are amazing because they offer loads of support, really comfortable and look great. I never struggle to get comfortable in them and they have good lumbar support so I never get back ache. I imagine the RS style seats will be a more expensive option but worth every penny I think...

Because (at least for me) the ST(MK3) Recaros do exactly the same, they are super comfortable and have amazing support.

Never sat in the RS buckets tho.

Have a go in a Mk2 Focus RS seat and come back to me :nice: The Mk3 Focus ST seats are very nice, but I don't think they are quite as good as the RS seats, visually or otherwise.

Clue: not everybody is the same height, shape, size, etc. This is why someone would choose something they feel comfortable in, you choose the mk2 RS seat, somebody else may choose something different, neither is always the best option.

I'd love the same seats as I have in my mk2, but I shall leave the choice to my other half seeing as it's the family car and she'll be driving and riding in it a lot. Fingers crossed!

Same for me. I get neck ache after a while as my head feels like its being tipped forward due to proximity of neck rest.

True! I guess the RS seats aren't best suited to people with a "fuller figure" as they are fairly narrow between the bolsters.

MK2 style seat's look more aggressive and in turn help make the car more aggressive looking for that reason I would go with the MK2 style seat's. I think they are a very hard seat and I think a long journey you could suffer from a numb bum. I have no padding in by butt 11 and a half stone rickle of bones. ST style seat's look very good though with :rs: emblazened upon them.

I have the MK2 seat upgrade and use my car most days. I find them just right bit like the three bears really and comfortable on long journeys. I need good lumbar support as I have a bad back.

Love the buckets, alcantara finish, they fit perfect, but my better half dislikes them, there is simply no grace for ladies getting out if them , as the buckets have high ridge.
The only downside for me, is how easy they will wear (side bolster) so seat cover is a must for everyday use.
Apart from that, it's in top 3 seats I ever sat in.

interesting discussion. I think the St style seats will be good to live with but I fear that people will want the bucket seats when I come to sell.

Think I might have a sit in my neighbours ST-2 to see if the seats are better than those that came in the MK2 ST. Even if they are comfy, I will probably go for the upgrade seats as I do think most people will want them when it comes to resale time. Anything up to £1000 and I will upgrade but after that it may well be better money spent at Mountune :yep:
