Hi All,

I am after some help.....

Firstly apologies for posting this in the general area but also posted in the problems/electrical section but got no replies so thought I may just try it here :)

My dash external temp reading sometimes dissapears to just show ____ and the hand brake dash light and the red snowflake light appears on the dash.
This randomly happens with it sometimes staying on for a while then it will go out.

Has anyone any idea on what it could be?

I would really appreciate any help.
Cheers
Mark

Update to add when this happens on my dash the car wont lock and if i open the door the alarm starts going off.

I can't find anything online, but am starting to think i may have a faulty ECU :(

More likely to be a faulty earth, all the canbus system runs through the dash panel, there were a few that had instrument cluster replaced under warranty.

Have a search for dash or instrument cluster issues.

How is the battery? If it's on it's way out and a few have done so in recent months it might be a contributory factor.

If your car is over 5 years old and on the original battery it's the first thing I'd look at.

Ahh great ok guys many thanks.
Ordered a scan gauge to hopefully see any fault codes but will check the battery and those search suggestions.

Got my battery checked today and all is fine with that.

Also managed to get some error codes and there was a canbus one and a fuel pump one. Unfortunately he cleared the errors without noting down the canbus error code :(

and I still have the problem.

Need to get it into a specialist I think.

Checked and cleaned all the 4 earth points in the engine bay today but not made any difference.
Will give collins or demonperformance a ring asap, its not a daily so will have to wait till i have time to get it down to one of them :(

I did see your post but wanted to state I had the same problem and explain how to check it himself.
My post wasn't meant to be as brief as that, so apologies if it came across a little wrong, we had a little issue at work.

Car is now fixed, had to have the modules reprogrammed by ford.
And also had the abs wires sorted too.
Couldn't resist some mods whilst at Collins so went for a full turbo back mongoose, cp370 software, As plenum fitted, full service, not and a few other bits car is now in great shape and I love it :)
It took a while but a happy end to the problem.
