As the RS will be my first performance car I'm leaning towards getting the Ford extended warranty but it seems a lot more expensive than the equivalent UK price.

Was quoted $3,700 for 3 years Ford warranty on top of the 3 year new car/factory warranty. (The car is $60K purchase price).
The Ford warranty allows getting the car serviced anywhere.

Dealer warranty is $3,300 for 5 years but have to get it serviced at the dealer.
They have capped price services but I know it will magically cost more.

Thoughts?

seems a tad steep compared to what we get in the UK? I'll be taking it as it eases the niggling concern over the AWD reliability

genuine ford extended warranty would also be a bonus if you sell early (presume it is transferable?)

Thanks - both warranty options are transferable.

Ford warranty is provided by Allianz and the dealer one is by Harrier.

I would assume everything would be covered as the warranty is being offered by Ford so it is just a continuation of the first 3 year warranty, and as Ford are happy to cover it with the MP package for the first 3 years I can't see them not covering it for the other 2 as it is done inline with what Ford want.

I spoke to Ford Warranty people when I was considering the Mountune kit on my ST and advised that as I had taken out the 4th year option to be wary of the fact that it gives them more reason not to honour the extended warranty if something goes wrong.

I then said 'best wait for the RS variant then' to which the response was 'yes'.

You pay's your money and take the risk.......
