Has anyone converted there standard airbox to have the extra hole at the bottom for a cold air intake,

Sorry no, it’s a simple as drilling a hole the correct size.

I had a Mountune X4 kit on my old Mk2 but a lot of people did just do their own cutting and run a cold air feed to the bumper to save £££

Bumper doesn't need to be removed, the triangle piece can be removed separately from the bumper - from what I know the clips used to hold the piece in place can be tricky to undo without breaking them, so maybe best to have a few new ones ready before doing the work just in case

found a bag in the shed and just sold them last week to a guy in Scotland.

These are the same clips that hold the lower MK3 RS grill in place fyi

I had Mountune X4 fitted and it was easy just have to remove the under tray and there is plenty of room to fit it. Its a bit of a squeeze if you have a Spec-r intercooler and hard pipe kit though.

I was only put off doing it before because in the mountune video they drop the intercooler out to fit it.
