Methods for stopping OBD theft?

What with the recent terrible theft, I feel like I want to do something to protect the car, but not sure about the best route. Could we have an outline of methods to defend against OBD theft?

• OBD lock - only one I have seen looks very industrial and home made - any recommendations?
• Rewire of OBD - beyond my skills but any simple ideas?
• Alarms/ECU remap - any recommendations?
• Disklok - seem recommended but too bulky as I need to jump in and out of my car often

Good luck all!

DISKLOK DISKLOC DISKLOK. £70 worth of peace of mind.

Is a few seconds really worth loosing your treasured car?????

It's a visual as well as a mechanical deterrent.

Comes highly recommended by many manufacturer vehicle security experts as well.

Nothing with stop a determined thief, but then again they will go for the ferraris, lambos etc where the rewards are worth the risk.

With the RS you are stopping the lower end of the theft scale, the ones that would rather choose easy pickings, without a DISKLOK you will fall into that category.

I have a very similar solution that I don't want to disclose, very effective though. The only problem is, it doesn't act as a deterrent because the OBD thieves wouldn't know about it until they get it 50 meters down the road and the car stops with the alarm going, and at that stage damage could be done.

So I am having a second think about a visual deterrent. I liked the window stickers Coggers has for one.

Without discussing it too much on here though, it sounds like some of the thieves have actually scanned or cloned keys now, as they don't always break the window to get to the obd port it seems.
My system would still stop them in this case anyway.

I just can not believe how many of you and I was one of them until my car was taken, have not got any security other than what fords added when they made them...

Tracker http://www.tracker.co.uk/ 150.00 discount at moment for tracker locate...

Disklock http://www.festive-lights.com/s:disklok/?search=disklok&gclid=CMK176isiLwCFfQZtAodEU8A3w&gclsrc=aw.ds

and this http://www.protectavan.co.uk/content/ecuobd-protection-device

Most on here wouldn't think twice about a mod and spending the money.... Get the money spent on your security...

Yes I sound like a nagging women but believe me it's not nice waking up to your pride and joy not being where you left it... and some thieving scumbag thinking it's ok for him/her to take it..

I have relocated the OBD connector to a more secure location, but there is a dummy one in the original position.

But, the dummy one has the two CAN BUS wires (the coms connections to the ECU etc.) connected to 12 volt battery supply.

If any device is connected to this OBD connector it will be fried.

I have a cover over the dummy OBD connector to remind me and others not to use and to ask my permission before any devise is connected to it.

Can the Revo SPS switch be used to protect from theft? I.e adding the "Anti-theft setting" before you lock your pride and joy up, then reloading your stage whatever map back on before YOU use it? This apparently only takes 5 seconds to do.. Along with a disklok etc could be good? Or can these

get round this?

For those that don't know, the REVO "anti-theft" system is preloaded onto the SPS (£120) along with your 3 revo maps. When you load it onto your ECU the car will start but only idle, if you put your foot to the floor on accelerator it will still only idle.

My method is on the drive, full lock towards house, mums car parked across mine, disklok and parked under my bedroom window with maxwells old system. Feels like the house is going to fall apart when it cold starts.

Guys, if you want any advice around trackers etc feel free to drop me a PM. I worked in the car audio/security etc industry for 20 years and know a thing or 2 about it. I'm out of it now, but the fundamentals remain the same, and there are some additional security measures that no one on here has mentioned that are simple yet effective, and very effective - even if they stole your keys/tried to steal via OBD port.
