Is the Volvo block actually an Audi?

I am not an expert however all the parts that have come off my car are all stamped Volvo not Audi. Not sure if Volvo and Audi had any collaboration on major units like engines. Certainly when I worked for Rover we had very close ties with Honda so Honda engines were used in our cars but again they were marked clearly as Honda not Rover.
