Has anybody come from a mk7 fiesta ST?

Hey guys,

I've currently got an mr230 fiesta st3 and have always wanted to own a mk2 RS. I'm thinking early next year to make the move, but out of interest has anybody made the move and regretted it?

The fiestas a great little package, but before that I had a 300bhp focus st facelift, and I'm now seriously missing the 5 pot!

I understand it's a vague question but any thoughts would be a great help to me making my mind up :)

Cheers,
Mike

I CANT SEE YOU REGRETTING IT

these things are just amazing

i got mine 3 days ago and everyone who has been in it is just blown away

most are just totally shocked how quick it is and how refined it is driving slow it does it all ! end of . lol

if you have the money do it asap you wont regret it

i asked on here and got a forum members car with loads and loads of extras i was happy with that as i didn't want a std car

and all the mods will be like 15k if added up and i don't have that sort of money to put into it so i made the choice to get one with the sort of power and extras i wanted

rather than a std car and im glad i did

so look into spec you want std or modified

then what spec ? it didn't mean much to me i would have liked black seats but blue and black leather are ok for now

lux 1 and 2 wasn't bothered either as really you need to leave them like that forever and sat nav is dated already ,mine has alpine head unit with all the whistles and bells and more that the lux 2 can do plus the lux 2 is married to aircon as well so its not just a case of swapping stereo for a more modern item

but at the minute the lux packs add a bit to the value

just decide what you want first then ask on here first as enthusiasts cars are always better and you dont get the mark up price of a garage

so do your home work .

hope to see a thread soon saying you have taken the leap to buying one

they really do get some good attention every where

I'm lucky enough to own both (though my Fiesta ST is CP2 not MR230).

The two cars are very different and great drives in their own right. Of course the Focus RS is "the one to have" and irrespective of what Focus ST owners say the RS is very different to the ST.

Should you do it? I'd say yes, but be aware the RS is an older car and it does show, the mpg is much lower, up to 3000 rpm slower than either modified ST, heavier and less nimble than the Fiesta and a theft/damage concern. However thriving the RS is special.

If say RS for driving when you want to, ST for when you need to.

I had a Mk7 ST running revo stage 1, Pro Alloy intercooler, Mongoose exhaust, AS intake and a load of handling upgrades.

The Focus does feel more special to drive in my opinion but dare I say it, not as fun? I think on the road you can use more of the little Fiesta's potential than you can in the Focus.

Never get bored of the noise and drama in the Focus though!

@EYREY1 Cheers mate, appreciate that comments! My biggest worry was the interior being dated compared to the fiesta, I think I'm so stuck on having all the mod cons, that I don't even really use lol! Ah I hadn't really thought about getting a lux one and then just swapping out the headunit, good shout that! Yeah I'm happy to get one modded, but like yourself I would rather buy one from an enthusiast! I think I'm going to have to make the move, as long as my funds allow me to I'm going to try as early next year as possible :)

@K30FUS I think we've had this convo on instagram lol! I'm mike_l92 :) Yeah I don't use a car in the week so whatever car I buy is a weekend toy, meaning I can afford to run pretty much anything as my milage is so little!

@stephen field Good to hear this from a previous fiesta owner! Thanks mate

I find that's the biggest thing the fiesta lacks, noise and drama! It's almost too good on the road if you get what I mean? I miss that raw power and having that big 5 pot lump! My fiesta also has handling mods alongside the mr230 and is very good on twisty roads, however I find myself doing less and less of that driving these days. I think the one thing that does make the RS feel maybe less fun is that lovely diff :)

Like a few on here, I had both too. The ST has the Mountune 215.

I loved the Mk2 (recently upgraded to the Mk3), but love the ST too. The ST is so much lighter, but the RS is a beast. It received a lot of attention in comparison to the ST, and rightly so.

The sheer grunt of the RS will ultimately put a bigger grin on your face, but the little ST gives a lot of reward for very little effort. Both brilliant cars....

This the decision im having just now, have a fiesta st with revo and a few other mods and the Mk2 Rs has always taken my fancy.

Coming upto 3 years with the fiesta st so will be selling it come september, does feel strange buying an older can than I have but the look of the rs and sound is too good. My biggest complaint with the fiesta has to be the poor build quality especially rattles and im wondering after 8 years ish how does the build quality of the RS compare?

I didn't have the fiesta mate but had a new 15 plate focus st and although a nice new modern car I now have a ug mk2 rs and honestly I don't think I'll ever get rid now I'm actually looking for a run around so I can garage the rs, absolutely love it, had a mk2 st 4 years ago and just had to have that 5 pot engine again, I actually traded my Audi s3 8v in for my rs wasn't sure about jumping to a car that was 7 years older at first but once I test drove one mate there was no stopping me, and mine is standard .

Thanks for the reply mate thats a good opinion to get seeing as youv had the focus st and s3 and still think the RS is better.
Think I need to get a drive of my mates one and see how it feels. Theres only his one in my area which also makes me want one as I never see any unlike the fiesta st which everyone has and now and they're getting a name for being the next limited edition corsa

Yeah don't get me wrong mate the st and s3 were quick cars just a bit to refined for my personal taste of how I like a car to be, the st we bought brand new but got rid of cos it lost so much money in the first year we couldn't believe it then went for the s3 which was quick off the mark but after that not exciting enough for me so we traded for the mk2 which is more to my taste as i like the rawness of it, if you were nearer mate I'd let you have a drive of ours, that's all you'd need even standard they sound good mate
