had an AutoSpecialists uprated fuel pump fitted a few days ago

now whenever i fill up with fuel the fuel gauge only go's just past half? no further? but the distance to empty on the trip computer will increase

as an example i had roughly 3/4 of a tank of fuel but gauge only showed half, however distance to empty was correct at circa 250 miles

is this a faulty pump/sender , or could the float be stuck after the tank was dropped? driving me insane

Best to contact Alan at auto specialist, I don't think you will be the first to have this problem and was advised by jamsport that this does happen with them and to avoid them

I up until now have always bought from them, but with recent dealings with them and 4 failed radiators, I will quite honestly say I will not be buying another product from them.
Please don't get me wrong, after sales has always been briliant, but why do people continue to sell products that are known to have problems, when jamsport told me there fuel pumps had issues I honestly at first didn't believe them,I just thought they were trying to sell me one of there's.
But again they continue to sell products that have flaws/ faults

Rant over.

how did they handle your radiators? and the labour, were you out of pocket?

can't say i have a spare 550 pound to buy a new one, get fitted and send the old one back, spent £860 today on meth kit and boost pipes!!

I've heard that the float arm has to be modified as it won't read correct volumes. Whether that's correct I dnt know. Every company has issues. Unfortunately jamsport are top at the tree for that one. Best contact Alan. Have a word with him. Maybe DPC can fix the problem for you

Radiators were replaced, and sent to me free of charge, but I had to swallow the costs of fitting, antifreeze, aircon regas but I do it all myself. The worse bit is having to send faulty one back for them to check first, especially when it's my every day car

I can quite honestly say that I agree with the above, jamsport are probably at the top of the tree. I would never let them touch my car, heard nothing but bad reviews.

The 2 potentials are

1- damage to the tracks for the level sensor.
2 - Or the main pump seal isn't fitted correctly, is hanging down and impeding the float arm.

Get it removed and double check it was fitted right etc before the pitch forks come out.

Just filled to the brim and still wont move past 250 miles/just over half

Would a kam reset be worth a shot? Or deffo the pump at fault here?

Well, after filling right to the brim, going on the bypass and giving it some beans it seems to be improving!!!

Fuel gauge is now almost at the top showing 302 miles to empty

Now i hadnt filled right to the brim since having the pump fitted, only 3/4 , not sure if this has solved it and the float has 'unstuck' after being full to the top

And as i type this the needle is now reading full, happy days!

UPDATE

Car is :censored:, misses is kicking off at me spending money on it and it never go's smoothly

EML is on with the following code , P0087 , fuel system/pressure is too low

also when you turn the ignition on the fuel pump sounds like its about to die

whenever i open it up it stops and almost hits a brick wall, like when the TC kicks in but even harsher, followed by about 4 backfires from the exhaust

1000% something up with this pump, now the only day I'm able to get over to AS is on Tuesday, think i'm just gonna drive there about 6am get there for 9ish and try and get it rectified, ive emailed them but i imagine they will be closed tomorrow for the bank holiday

seriously :censored: off!!!

I'd be very careful driving the car at all, running low fuel pressure/ running lean could cause you lots of damage, I'm sure auto specialist will do there best to rectify the problem
