I'm no parts guru, but would this not be the date that the supplier was able to provide parts to Ford Parts Departments rather than an indication of production dates?

I don't think so. Ford wrote in a published document that the RS production will start in November
Well all I can say is from the 20 years Ive been involved with ford parts, the dates on microfiche, ******** and ecat have always refered to duild dates

EG you go into a dealer and they need to your chassis number so they can determine the build date of the car

example.... Escort RS Turbo series 2...... 90 spec cars has various different parts..... parts slide specify change from build date 01-05-1989 to 31-08-1990 all car BUILT between those dates uses 90 spec specific parts.

It has always worked like this, if a different parts supplier is used or a part modified, the slide will sho that by having 2 dates.... a 'built from' and a 'built to' date

No doubt in the future the mk3 will have revised parts so may show something like 04-01-2016 to 31-05-2016 if they change a spec of a part or redesign something.... so all cars 'BUILT' after 31-05-2016 would use a different part

Its doesnt seem unreasonable that ford would continue to do this the same way for the MK3 RS..... unless they are in the habit of wasting time by getting programmers to add MK3 parts to ecat and are going to totally redo the way that every ford parts dealer worldwide uses build to and from dates....

anyway...all IMO and something I'll be interested to check out

See Faceache lol
Oh yeah and we all believe whatever is written on Faceache

Nope...ecat dates have always refered to production from / to dates.
  they have been known to be incorrect and have to be amended in the next Microfiche release. Although fiche is so outdated now.

 I don't recall where on released Ford media articles, but this is best info I am aware of.

If I recall correctly, very early Press release in Feb & subsequent ones have stated Production will start end 2015

If one excludes Christmas shutdown that starts around 20-22 Dec one should be able to work out a Job 1 date fairly accurately.

Very accurate summation of how build dates & ECAT work, no good having wrong parts for ones car.

Job 1 (e.g. start of build dates) have been known to change.

I have worked for Ford for 43 years in a variety of roles mostly production related and I know that Job 1 dates are held very very firmly, as this relates to the return on investment targets set at the beginning of any program, however, they can & DO change for a variety of reasons (e.g. Mondeo, S-max & Galaxy were all delayed for EU release due to the announcement of closure of the Genk plant and having to retool Valencia in order to make the production of these models.

Valencia is now the Mega-Plant of Ford in Europe and is able to flexibly manufacture

Focus, Mondeo S-max, Galaxy and Transit Connect - if I have my facts correct.

I happen to know the Job 1 build date for C346RS, however I cannot and will not say what it is.

Some of the speculation is way off the mark and others are very close.

I suspect that all will be revealed, including start of production dates, at the Frankfurt motor show.

I wonder if they are flying in Ken Block again

Hear what you saying dave....

Agree microfiche is so out of date and know no longer used, although I believe the information was spotted on ecat which is Internet based and linked to ford so would expect it to be more accurate.

Reading some of the details about floor pans being different rs only part numbers and various other bits rs only....
I struggle to believe that ford would go to the trouble of adding that all to a program if it wasn't true?

Anyway....mine will arrive when it arrives....not in no rush as long as I got it for croft in June! !

I have just logged into ECAT and yes there are details of the 2.3 Ecoboost in Focus in there and also other sub systems I would read it is setting up the basic structure as man have no part numbers etc.

The interesting point is that it states from "06-10-2014" and another "01-12-2014"

(which would be correct if one also takes into account the pre-production prototype builds that might also need parts).

Graphics of the current models available through ECAT.

These go back to the 1976 Fiesta, which is when Valencia plant was first build, some 40 years of product.
