Do we think that if the new RS wasn't a global car (in reality meaning transatlantic) we would even have got a drift mode? Everything about it just smacks of a gimmick to sell the car to Americans (no offence intended to our US members). I think in general it's only really non petrol heads that have greeted the drift mode with anything other than mild interest or general apathy? I could be wrong though. That isn't unknown...

If you've read up on the development and everything that people like Tyrone Johnson have said about the car you'd know that the "drift" mode was found by accident as a byproduct of the advanced AWD setup, not something they designed from the off to do.

I wasn't questioning it's development or how it was found, more the necessity of including it on the car. For me personally the inclusion of a drift mode and the use of Ken Block are a bit esoteric on a car like the RS. That being said, if someone wants to donate me a years supply of free tyres I'll give Drift mode a thorough testing!!

Essentially it was an Easter Egg a quirk almost - but I'd imagine Mr Block would have been in on the game drift mode or no drift mode due to the profile raising he can do, especially the US and more so with the internet/youtube masses
