Classic car, why have one when you can have two

From my perspective it's because new cars are better. Don't get me wrong, my finest driving experience has been in my, much missed, 1986 mini - as a tool simply for driving it was brilliant, unservoed brakes, you could really lean on the brake pedal and blip the throttle with the outside of your foot for double declutch gear changes, the steering was very direct thanks to a 2.5 turn rack and the mechanical gearchange was sublime. Add to that a "proper" carburettor it was a fabulous drive to the extent that I modified my already modified 1991 mini back to unservoed brakes . The cars themselves are awful! Bouncy, crashy and hard work but I love them. On the other hand I drove past a 1974 Morris Marina 1800TC Coupe for sale today but thought it was worth more as scrap value than its asking price, they were shocking cars.

I went to Mr420's garage last year and there was a grey Sierra Cosworth hiding in the corner, it looked fab but very dated and I'm sure a drive of one would cement the view. My oldest boy has just bought a new Fiesta ST and the wife has ordered a Fiesta zetec 140ps 3 cylinder job, unfortunately for us olduns this is the way of the future, these new additions are fabulous cars, drink virtually no petrol but are an absolute hoot to drive. My mini's going nowhere though (nor is my Focus RS) but I do like new cars, the technology on them is something else...

Apols to the OP, I'm sure there's a reason to add a classic to the garage, I'm just making the point that new cars are so good that it's sometimes not worth the effort.

Escort focus rs 5.JPGI bought a Cossie cause why not, only live once and i always wanted one plus i will make money on it if i decide to sell up. just another car for me to add to my collection really, but just finished detailing only took 5 hours to have all four corners off and full body buffed.
Not a better fast ford you could add at the moment. I absolutely love mine, a real piece of fast ford history. welcome to the club!.

Cue the Cossie pics...... I'll start........

Some Oz monte alloys on that and that would be perfection :)

yeah unfortunately someone changed it for a non standard piece, i have the original just got to fit it. don't get why he didi it though was the same owner from brand new and has got some original cossie sapphire wheels so will probably put those on.

Hey mate, for the general flow of this thread your pics weren't in the OP. We're (mostly) with you but...

That looks really nice.
I'm torn between a escort cosworth or a mk3 rs!!!!!!!!!!
if you want a car that will run like a clock and is easy to drive then go rs, because old cars its only until you own one and drive one that you realise how much cars and electronics help. so if your going escort make sure you like it and you get a good one.
