My aircon only works for a short time then blows out warm air not nice in the current heatwave.
The pollen filter was changed recently and it was re-gassed with no leaks. I cant hear a clicking when I switch the aircon on.
I looked at an old post on the subject and it mentioned that it could be the pressure switch however Andy at A&K lists two switches and I have no idea which might be the problem.

My local Ford dealership is unable to look at the car until next month so I would like to try to get it fixed if I can before then.

Anyone had a similar problem?

yes, I had similar problem back in July 2018, clutch not engaging.

i found out that on all other focii you can buy just the clutch mechanism, but not on the RS, one needs a complete new air con pump.

in 2018 I found this out the day before leading a group to Germany for the Nürburgring Treffen/Meet, plus the Cologne plant tour and tour of their Classic Car Museum.

Thankfully a quite word with a couple of my old customers over in Cologne and as I was there for two weeks I managed to get a new pump fitted courtesy of Ford of Germany (Would never have happened in UK).

so at least the journey home Stuart and I had aircon again, but going out we had the windows open for most of the journey as it was 30+ degrees going out, not much less coming back.

if you can find an air con reconditioning place, they might be able to replace the clutch only And save some £s.

Yeah, it's a bit of a bodge - seen it on the ST forums.

I had a specialist replace it all on my Mk2 ST - cost about £500 fitted (but about £100 of that was gas) but it was perfect after that.

I used Paul at Auto-Aircon vehicle air conditioning and diagnostic specialists (although I contacted him via Facebook).

He did the repair on my Mk2 ST, and has since re-gassed another 3 cars for us.

He worked in prototype vehicles (for PAG I seem to recall) year ago, so gets that people are twitchy about their cars.

Doesn't the Mk2 RS have the same aircon compressor (and clutch) as the Mk2 ST (and also maybe 2.5 turbo Kuga and Mondeo)? I'd be amazed if it didn't. I do believe they are different to those fitted to other mk2 Focuses.

I would also consider what Volvo could supply as well. The C30 T5R of the same era has the same engine as the Mk2 ST.

i remember yrs ago coming back from a show in my es cos and i saw smoke coming out the passenger bonnet vent,fearing the worst i pulled over and whipped the bonnet up ready with my extinguisher and saw nothing at all
i had a good look around and traced it to the aircon pump,the drive plate had stuck on and the heat had melted the rubber insulators causing them to smoke,that was a huge relief 😄

I know this might sound a bit obvious but where is the air con pump located. Had a good look round but nothing seems that obvious but then the under bonnet and belts are very tight together.

Car is currently at Ford dealer trying to fix aircon. They are unable to read all the data from diagnostic equipment and they say there might be a battery problem however it was changed a month ago for another BoschS5 unit. They say that as it's not a Ford battery they cant communicate with a chip used in these units, not heard of that problem before has anyone else? Also might be MR375 software blocking certain info.
So unable to get started however aircon has lost 200gm since being topped up in July, regaslng didn't sort the problem last time.

There isn't a chip in the Ford battery on a Mk2.

Not sure seemed to be a costly exercise so I guess it was the more expensive option. Now waiting for parts at least they provided a new loan car Puma ST hybrid. Quite honestly we just want it working again don't fancy another summer without aircon working.

Right not sure if anyone can help on this one. My local Ford dealer are still trying to sort out my aircon.
They are unable to use their diagnostic equipment as it seems that MR375 is causing problems.
They have changed the two pressure switches and a relay. The aircon works fine normally however when the temp is cold outside it keeps turning off any ideas?

It was mentioned that it might be the clutch spacing on the ac compressor?

System gets to five bar then shuts off.
