Hi guys,

I came across your site whilst trying to do a bit of research on the Lux pack 2 on the RS. I'm not really interested in the Sat Nav as I've got a Tom Tom more interested in the interface for iPod and iPhone and if the sound is any different from the Sony head unit.

I placed my deposit on 22nd Feb, I'm not getting the car until September, although a few of the dealers I visited said they had builds available that I could have if I wanted it sooner. I really wanted the car as a 40th birthday pressie to myself but thats 10 days before the end of the year and thought it a bit unreasonable to get the dealer to keep it that long, as I believe production ends in August(?)

The spec I've got ordered at the moment is... Frozen white, Bluetooth, Half leather, Lux Pack 1 and isofix.

Things I'd like that Ford should have done.. a couple of heated seat switches (don't care if they work or not, I just hate blanks) and the passenger airbag deactivation button.

Can you order the passenger airbag thing? No idea why I can't have heated seats though or even cruise control. I know the RS is a drivers car but come on, if that's the case should Sat Nav, auto this and that and voice control be options?

Are there any pro/cons to painting the brake calipers? I was going to get the dealer to do it before delivery but is there any warranty issues with painting them? I think they'd look great in blue to match the RS badges on the car, now I think of it they'd look even better blue with RS logos on them.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for all the newbie questions, I'm just so excited about the car, and it's totally bringing out the 'man-racer' in me.

Oh and I meant to ask is there an online parts directory like the BMW realoem one (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/) just incase Ford decided not to fit heated seats to the last of the RS's coming off the line

Welcome Dicto

thats a long time to wait for it. Summer will be over by then (if it ever arrives this year that is).

I know what you mean regarding the blank buttons. Surely Ford could have found some use for them. It definately cheapens the interior imho.

There's a video on youtube, must try and find it, it shows an RS on a motorshow stand somewhere in the world that has no blanks on the dash, by using the freeze frame thats how I found out what's missing, I'd even called Ford customer service to find out and that was a waste of time.

Not fussed about missing summer in the RS, summer is for biking, plus I've got a 3 series convertible at the moment so will hopefully get to use the drop top a fair bit during this long hot summer, we ARE going to have.

Does it sound like I'm going through a mid life crisis

No not a mid life crisis. Just mature and wise enough to enjoy the finer things life has to offer

It's a self imposed wait, want the car as close to my birthday as possible.

What I want to know about the lux pack 2, is what it does with the iPod & iPhone that the standard unit doesn't, eg touch screen to choose a track like or graphic equaliser and stuff. No dealers around me have any Focus in stock with the sat nav head unit that I can mess around with.

I know you lose the DAB if I go for Lux Pack 2 which is a bit of a shame.

You also loose the 6-CD changer with Lux Pack 2 , but you get the Reversing camera .
