guys, with all the cars that are going missing would it not be a good idea to move the image section into the members area, that way guests cant see it.

I logged out and was able to view everything.

just a thought

I've been thinking about this too. The Garage section can also be seen by anyone...and it's a bit like a shopping list of parts worth taking.

I like keeping it up to date and have been entertained (and perplexed) by the number of hits that it's had compared to other cars (263,000 versus less than 6,000 or over 20,000 a month). But as @legs says, it's completely open to the public (hence my weird volume of hits that I believe is due to searchable text on the 'Main' page). Just try some search words in Google when you're logged out...and up comes my car.

Please can you confirm whether it can be made secure (to only paying thieves ) as it will hurt me to press Delete?

For what reason Davie ?
Perhaps we're all in free fall panic. I know it's not really logical...but the Garage area in particular is now making me nervous. Thousands of people will see our cars driving around, with number plates on full display (of course) - so why would we be worried about some online photos?

I guess it's because this site (Garage in particular) might represent a one-stop shop for the wrong type of 'buyer'.

It's my choice to put everything in Garage - and having done that (and had some fun compiling all the details), I'm now wondering who the quarter of a million browsers are.

Dunno what to do...I'm going to have a beer and think more clearly about deleting it all :nice:

In that case we'd probably have to make the whole site pay-to-view to be honest , and it would still only cost a car thief £6 to see everything (if that's what you're thinking about). Making more areas only visible to paying Members could also have an adverse effect , if they can't see anything at all they're more likely to pay £6 to see everything rather than only see the limited 'free' areas they currently have access to .

I understand all the feeling of paranoia, but the reality is that the use of smart phones and social media inevitably means pictures of your car are probably freely available on the internet anyway.

Try doing a little searching for your car in places you know you've been in the last month or so and you may well be surprised what you find.
