I don't think you should, iirc the shoulders are wider on the standard nuts, so the 'tuner' nuts stand a better chance of pulling through the wheel (I'm sure I read on here that it had happened to someone). Having said that, I'm referring to my mk2 ST days, the nuts on the mk1 might be different. I'm taking my wheels off later, so I'll try and remember to get a comparison pic for you :thumbsup:.
Here you go. The stock nut has a wider shoulder than the after market one. You might get away with it, but I wouldn't risk it myself.
